Special Guest Dr. Bill Veith discusses forced psychological tests and the ramifications of the court ruling someone to be mentally incompetent as a legal status. Remedies are discussed as well.
Hours 1 & 2: A four-hour special featuring Dr. Bill Veith, who gives us his professional opinion about the purposes of mental competency examinations and psychological battery tests. (See the ROL shows dated 20100524 and 20100702, Hours 3 & 4, regarding caller Mike (Connecticut) and how his wife was arrested by police, without a warrant, and taken on a long ride to a State mental hospital.)
Bill, Randy, Eddie, and Deborah agree that courts often demand that defendants take mental competency exams, purportedly to determine whether or not they are competent to stand trial, whereas in reality these exams are used as a threat to bend the defendants to the will of the court. Bill is adamant that such an order conflicts with the Fifth Amendment’s prohibition on compelling someone to be a witness against himself, since the information furnished would obviously be used against the defendant.
Hours 3 & 4:
Dr Bill Veith, continued.
A caller recounts a disturbing case centering around his wife’s family, their hatred of him, their religion, their “conspiracy theory” beliefs, and their ties with local politicians and law enforcement. After asking her brothers to watch Aaron Russo’s movie “America: Freedom to Fascism”, they lie about wanting to take her to lunch. Instead she is whisked off to a mental hospital for a series of mental competency examinations. The husband is told me may not see his wife.
